Class News 2025-2026

Manchester Museums Trips

We had a lovely day visit to Manchester to visit the Museum of Science and Industry and the Manchester Museum. We saw so many fantastic things related to curriculum topics we have already studied at school and also learning from the future including Computing, Animals, Mechanisms, the Egyptians, the Industrial Revolution and Dinosaurs. We enjoyed the experiment gallery at MoSI and seeing creatures great and small at the Manchester Museum.

Pilgrimage 2025 - Water

We enjoyed taking part in the annual school pilgrimage. This year the theme was water so we trekked up to Blackmoorfoot Reservoir where we enjoyed the spectacular views and gave thanks for water and all the ways we use it in our lives. We had some tired legs by the end of the day but, as usual, everyone enjoyed this wonderful school outing.

Firefighters Visit

We had a wonderful visit from some firefighters from Slaithwaite Fire Station. They spoke to us about staying save on bonfire night and how we can best respond in an emergency. We had lots of questions and stories to share and everyone came away with new knowledge and understanding.

Recommended Reading Books for Year Five Pupils

We are often asked what books to recommend that might suit a Year Five pupil. Click on the link below to take you to a site with bags of ideas for suitable reading material. Obviously, you know your child best; their level of reading ability and what subject matter might be best suited (or avoided) for their own individual needs and beliefs, but this site enables you to click on the book, gain further information about it and will even take you directly to an on-line shop. Please note; we are not affiliated to the site in any way and the books shown are meant as serve as ideas for your children only.
